Are you an experienced children's nurse with a keen interest in children's oncology? Would you like to make a difference to the lives of children and young people with a diagnosis of cancer?
Due to the current post holder retiring and returning on reduced hours, we have an exciting opportunity within our children's community services in Lincolnshire for a part-time Band 7 children's Macmillan nurse specialist.
Alongside the current post holder, you will be responsible for providing a flexible nursing service within core hours Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm for a caseload of children and young people 0-19 years with oncology conditions and their families. In addition, you will participate in the 24/7 on-call rota for palliative / End of Life care as required working closely with the community children's nursing teams.
Applicants must be NMC Registered Nurse (child) / RSCN with a relevant first degree or equivalent qualification and /or experience. A specialist qualification in children's oncology care or demonstrable experience is essential for this post, as is a Teaching / Mentorship qualification.
Recent experience of working within children's nursing including working with families whose children are undergoing cancer treatment is also considered essential.
Main duties of the job
As a children's Macmillan nurse specialist you will be instrumental in developing this specialist nursing service alongside the current post holder, playing an integral role in improving and transforming cancer pathways for children and young people and their families.
You will provide strong clinical leadership across the children's community services working closely with and supporting the acute children's services, to ensure delivery of safe, high quality care and support for any child with a cancer diagnosis and their family living in Lincolnshire.
You will work closely with and support the current post holder and the clinical lead ensure the service specification and quality measures for the POSCU are maintained and improved, year on year.
You will have the ability to work collaboratively across organisational and professional boundaries to actively participate, lead on, advise and influence the direction children's oncology nursing locally and across the East Midlands, representing POSCU at a network level as required.
Act as an expert resource by facilitating the delivery of specialist oncology education and training for colleagues and other professionals who care and support the oncology child.

This Band 7 part-time specialist post will work closely with the current Macmillan nurse post holder. The children's Macmillan specialists form part of the children's community services.
