Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Library and Knowledge Services Apprentice at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful applicant will be employed for a fixed term of 18 months, during which time the post-holder will be supported to achieve the Level 3 Library, Information and Archive Services Assistant Apprenticeship.

The Library and Knowledge Services provide information services to the staff and students of United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust and St Barnabas Hospice. The service is committed to providing quality information to these organisations to ensure patient safety and service improvement.

The successful candidate must be interested in working in a health library and knowledge environment. They must be motivated to learn and put that learning into practice.

Main duties of the job

About the Role

The role will involve understanding and assisting Library and Knowledge Services users to access information (both in digital and physical formats). The role will involve organising and managing information resources.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate should have good IT skills and excellent attention to detail. They should be able to work as an individual and also as part of a team. They should also be able to prioritise and organise work to adapt to the needs of the service. Good communication and customer service skills are needed for this role.

The Library and Knowledge Service is based at three sites: Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital (Boston) and Grantham & District Hospital. The successful candidate will be based at Lincoln County Hospital but will be expected to occasionally travel to the other sites.

Lincoln is a thriving university city. Lincoln County Hospital provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service. Pilgrim Hospital (Boston) is situated in beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area.
