Job summary
The Anaesthetic Department at Pilgrim Hospital currently includes 17 Consultants, 12 Specialty Doctors, 3 Speciality Trainees and 6 Core Trainees. The trainee grades are on rotation from the Leicester School of Anaesthesia. There is a separate consultant rota for Intensive care.
The Department is keen to promote flexible working hours and continuing professional development with protected and funded study leave. Trainees work a 48-hour EWTD compliant working week. The Department is committed to the development of both clinical and other special interests.
Main duties of the job
The postholders duties will be primarily atPilgrim Hospital, Boston, Lincolnshire,but it is a condition of the appointment that the postholder will be willing to work in any of the Trusts locations or outreach district general hospital clinics.
In addition he/she will be required to:
- Undertake such other duties as may be identified to meet the needs of the service.
- Take part in 1:13 Consultant weekday night and weekend oncall and to provide, on a reciprocal basis, emergency cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
- Have continuing responsibility for patients in his/her care and for the proper functioning of the department.
- Take part in team, department audits.
The post holder will be expected to partake in teaching activities for junior doctors in training and medical students.
The Job Plan and duties will be reviewed and updated on a regular basis in line with demands of the service.
