This is a unique opportunity to become a member of a small, but friendly, highly specialised nursing team. We are a Comprehensive Care centre for haemophilia, and the role involves managing/caring for haemophilia patients across all stages of the patient journey, from birth into adulthood. Caring for adult patients with related bleeding disorders and paediatric immunology are part of this interesting and varied role.
Based at the Queen's centre, Castle Hill Hospital, you will provide care to adults and paediatric patients across hospital sites, in inpatient, outpatient and community settings.

Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective running of the department in the absence of the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist or manager.
You will provide clinical leadership to the nursing team. You will supervise the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for this specialist group of patients and their carers.
You will act as a member of the multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive care for patients. Your responsibilities will include, with support, giving specialist advice, support and counselling to patients, their carers and staff. As part of the hub-and-spoke arrangements with other units, you will work closely with the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide advice and support to colleagues in other services as required. You, with support from the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Manager and members of the MDT, will be involved in developing a nurse-led initiative encompassing support and treatment of side effects, both physical and psychological, for patients with these conditions. You will have an inpatient, outpatient and occasional community remit.
You will be a valued member of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) who work closely together to provide up-to-date patient care for both adult and paediatric patients with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders, platelet disorders and paediatric immunology.
