Bowel Cancer Screening Clinical Endoscopist

Job summary

You will provide clinical expertise in lower gastrointestinal screening endoscopy. You will be able to diagnose significant colorectal lesions and where applicable undertake endoscopic therapeutic interventions. You will be able to work autonomously having the necessary experience training, skills and knowledge to support and advise the wider bowel cancer screening team in the selection, assessment, management and treatment of individuals participating in the bowel cancer screening programme. You will be to provide the necessary leadership, training and teaching to support further recruitment, development, mentorship and preparation to secure expansion of both the medical and non-medical workforce to meet demand has the national bowel screening programme continues to evolve and expand.

Main duties of the job

You will provide and maintain high quality screening colonoscopy across all screening sites of the Humber & Yorkshire Coast Bowel Cancer Screening Centre.

You will participate in National, Regional and Local Meetings to maintain and update skills and knowledge in delivering high quality screening colonoscopy.

You will engage and support your screening team members and those across England to ensure that you have a detailed understanding of the screening participants' journey throughout their bowel screening pathway (population screening and Lynch Surveillance).

You will take part in research, audit and teaching opportunities contributing to the positive development and growth of the Screening Centre and the organisation as a whole.

You will be a welcome member and contributor of The Large/Complex Polyp MDT

You will be supported and developed to maximise every opportunity to develop skills, knowledge, behaviour and attitudes that reflect the driving values of this organisation and Screening Centre.

  • JAG Accredited Screening Colonoscopist
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber

Desirable

  • Train The Colonoscopy Trainer (TCT) or Train The Endoscopist Trainer (TET) Course
  • Teaching Qualification
  • Optical Diagnosis Accreditation

  • Evidence of meeting/exceeding screening colonoscopy KPI's
  • Prescribing of medications and evaluation of prescribing decision outcome(s)
  • Level 2 Polypectomy Skills and Experience
  • Teaching, assessing and evaluating trainees in lower gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures - diagnostic and level 2 therapeutic
  • Facilitating learning via a variety of teaching/educational methods
