Band 4 - Community Liaison Officer - Community Liver Health Check Service, Hepatology, Gastroenterology

An exciting Fixed Term opportunity - initially for 1 year - for a dedicated Band 4 Community Liaison Officer to join our Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team. The post-holder will primarily contribute to our Community Liver Health Check work, which delivers specialist liver care in community settings. To support identification and early diagnosis of liver disease, but will be expected and encouraged to work within the broader Liver CNS team.

The successful candidate will deliver direct patient care in a health care support role as part of the Community Liver Health Check team. This is also a key role in helping those under assessment or diagnosed with chronic liver disease to engage with ongoing liver care. The post holder will also contribute to the planning and organisation of the Community Liver Health Check service including data returns and other admin procedures. There will be the opportunity to independently deliver Fibroscan clinics in both community and hospital settings and provide other clinical skills such as phlebotomy for a small amount of our patients. Training will be provided for new required skills.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be required to travel to community settings (e.g. GP surgeries, addiction support centres etc.) as part of the role, so must have access to your own vehicle, along with appropriate insurance. Travel expenses for the purpose of work will be reimbursed.

This role is an initial 1-year fixed term contract and will be 37.5 hours per week. The candidate will need to be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of our patients and service, alongside discussion of individual needs. Good communication skills are essential as you will be dealing with members of the public within community services, alongside our own clinical teams.
