Job summary

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery are recruiting 2 part time Senior Health Care Support Workers, to join a friendly, dynamic and progressive team based within the Maxillofacial Team on the Castle Hill Hospital site.

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a busy outpatient service delivering a variety of specialist clinics; including clinics for urgent suspected cancer referrals from GP's and from General Dental Practices. The Senior Health Care Support Worker will assist the Registered Practitioner in the delivery of safe, high quality clinical care to patients at all times.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join us on a permanent part-time basis. You will be a pivotal member of the team, assisting and supporting the registered nurses and surgeons in the running of clinics, act as patient advocate to ensure the patients received a high quality consultation.

The role involves chaperoning patients during clinical examinations and procedures, you will be required to work on the Nurse Led Clinic applying basic/complex dressings, performing venipuncture, obtaining / recording vital signs, performing ECGs, heights, weights and swabs and general housekeeping. You will also be required to work cross site at our Trauma Clinic based at Hull Royal Infirmary, you will also be required to work at the Westwood Suite as a circulator within a theatre setting.

You must be flexible in your approach to work, with previous evidence of effective team working. Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and written. Be adaptable and able to lead and embrace change, whilst ensuring patient safety is always maintained.
