Respiratory Nurse Specialist Lung Cancer Screening

The closing date is 07 October 2025

Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for lung cancer screening assessments as well as working in a nurse led clinical hub supported by a national protocol and training. The overall purpose of the Hull & East Riding Lung Cancer Screening Programme (LCSP) is to enable the early detection of lung cancer in order to save lives. Hull was one of the 10 pilot sites, chosen to roll out the first wave of the LCSP programme, linked to its high prevalence of smoking, deprivation and its current ranking of the highest mortality rate from lung cancer in the country. The Hull & East Riding Programme continues to be a success, and the service is continuing to expand into the East Riding. The Lung Cancer Screening Programme will help improve cancer survival rates by inviting people aged 55-74 who have ever smoked as being at increased risk of lung cancer for a lung cancer screening assessment. People will be offered a Low Radiation Dose Computed Tomography (LDCT) scan (chest scan) if appropriate, through a mobile CT unit.
