Job summary
The Trauma and Orthopaedic clinic sees patients that have fractures, soft tissue injuries , and chronic Orthopaedic problems. It is a busy clinic seeing 600 patients per week covering all patients ages. We run a variety of specialist clinics such as soft tissue knee clinics , baby hip screening clinics, hip and knee clinics , children's orthopaedic clinics etc.
We also run a globally recognised Bine reconstruction clinic.
Main duties of the job
Working in the Clinics with the medical staff chaperoning the patients, acting as patient advocate, completing requests for treatment and facilitating the smooth running of the clinic to ensure the patient has a high quality consultation.
Applying splinting and casting treatments for the patients to a high standard with the correct knowledge to give the patient good advice.
Applying basic dressings and performing venepuncture within the clinic setting.
Removing casts in a safe timely manner.

1. Communication and Relationship Skills
- Supports patients and their families, through communicating information using a variety of methods, to ensure effective understanding and reporting the outcome to the nurse in charge.
- Contributes to the effective communication between members of the multi disciplinary team, taking personal responsibility to share update and share information
- Ensures information is conveyed to the patient in a timely and understandable manner, using different communication methods to clarify understanding

- Applies other more complicated casts supervised by qualified nurse who has completed in house cast training or has BOA plaster technician qualification.
