Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist Oncology

Hull University Teaching Hospitals are seeking a Band 7 Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist to join our diverse team of allied health professionals. The post holder will work within the oncology service iat Castle Hill Hospital

The post holder will work alongside Clinical Lead colleagues to plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the occupational therapy service provided to patients within oncology. As a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist, you will have advanced levels of clinical expertise in the assessment and treatment of a range of conditions including oncology.

You will deputise, along with other clinical lead therapists , in the absence of a line manager, taking responsibility for the operational leadership and development of the oncological therapy team. A high regard for clinical operations and governance will be needed ensuring high standards of patient centred care is achieved and maintained.

We are seeking people who can adapt to a changing environment and work well in a team. You will be expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and build social networks working in partnership with other agencies.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the oncology therapy service in partnership with other Clinical Leads.

The post holder will be able to demonstrate specialised clinical skills, leadership and service development experience as well as excellent interpersonal skills.

Support will be provided to enhance operational management skills as the post holder will contribute to service planning, development and teaching. As a Clinical Lead, the post holder will be a role model for their team and pride themselves on delivering high quality care and motivate their team to do the same.

  • Able to demonstrate recent NHS experience or equivalent
  • Evidence of current consolidated experience at a Senior Level in relevant speciality

  • Qualification of recognised highly specialist skills in relevant areas (Masters or equivalent)
  • Experience of working in acute and community specialities

Skills and Knowledge

  • Must be literate, numerate and possess advanced verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyse, select and apply appropriate interventions from a range of modalities
  • Good working clinical knowledge of specialist and standard community assistive equipment prescribing (including wheelchairs)
