Job summary
The Department of Dermatology is a Humber-wide Hub and Spoke service delivered largely from Castle Hill Hospital site with spoke facilities at Scunthorpe General Hospital, Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Goole Hospital and the East Riding Community Hospital. Our facilities see care delivered to a population of 600,000 patients that are able to access Urgent Suspected Cancer care, PUVA/B, minor surgical facilities, leg ulcer clinics, acne, photodynamic therapy, patch testing, biologics, systemics and dressings. The department also deliver a large proportion of Clinical Nurse Specialist activity that covers medical and surgical elements of care. All services are delivered as an Outpatient, however the service does support acute referrals from inpatients across all of our hospitals.
Main duties of the job
As a an employee of the Trust the post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support, other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust's patients. Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:-
To ensure the provision of a first class clinical service
To provide effective leadership to junior doctors and medical students
To undertake all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies
To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's and Operational Group's services plans
So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the above duties, the post holder undertakes to deputise on occasion for absent colleagues in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Service. The post holder agrees to also perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant, or to achieve continuity of care.
Clinical activity consists of adult and pediatric new and follow up Outpatient clinics, for routine, urgent and USC categories, Minor Ops procedures and MDT participation.
