Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic band 5 nurse to join our friendly team.

The post holder will be working with a variety of Immunology and Allergy patients from across a large geographical area.

The team manages the care of patients with allergies who are having diagnostic tests or treatment as well as the long term management of a client group with both primary and secondary immunodeficiency.

Main duties of the job

  • Work as part of a team of Immunology Nurses who provide a high standard of care and treatment to patients with a variety of immunology and allergy conditions in an Outpatients setting
  • Promote and maintain a high standard of care for patients receiving immunoglobulin therapy in an Outpatient setting
  • Carry out a variety of allergy testing in a clinical setting, including skin and intradermal testing and drug/ anaesthetic allergy testing (full training will be given)
  • Assist in running a nurse led clinic providing specialist treatment to patients receiving desensitisation for severe allergy conditions
  • Assist in running Immunology clinics
  • Educate patients on allergy avoidance measures and teach practical treatment skills to patients and relatives
  • Help to care for patients and relatives receiving home therapy by participating in home therapy training and maintaining infusion records
  • Maintain and update patients details on the National Immunoglobulin Database and other National external databases.
  • Complete patient-related admin to enable the above care
  • Order supplies required for the smooth running of the clinics
