Main duties of the job
As a post-registration pharmacist, you'll be fully supported on your journey to becoming a Band 7 clinical pharmacist. You'll have named mentors who will guide you every step of the way, ensuring you receive the support and supervision needed to excel.
You'll embark on a comprehensive foundation training programme, which includes:
- Studying for the Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice
- In-house practice supervision and hands-on mentoring
This is a progression post, designed to take you to the next level. After completing key training milestones--currently year one of the Diploma--and submitting a successful portfolio of evidence, you'll progress to Band 7, moving into specialist rotations and starting your prescribing qualification.
As a post-registration pharmacist, your core responsibilities will include:
- Delivering a clinical pharmacy service to designated wards
- Offering expert advice to medical and nursing staff, as well as to patients, on the safe and effective use of medicines
- Facilitating medicine reconciliation, discharge planning, and patient counselling
- Supporting inpatient dispensaries
To be eligible for this role, you must be aregistered pharmacist or a trainee pharmacist eligible for GPhC registration in January 2025. Offers for Band 7 post will be considered base don previous experience and qualification.
