Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity within the cancer psychological service for a motivated and skilled assistant psychologist. The role will offer the opportunity for development in a range of skills and competencies supported by a friendly and expanding team within the Psychological Services department at Hull University Teaching Hospitals.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a capacity to maintain a compassionate approach to patients and staff in the face of significant distress. We are looking for someone who is proactive with a good range of communication, IT and organisational skills to assist in the development of the cancer psychological service.
The post will be managed within the wider Department of Psychological Services, which is a rapidly expanding and forward thinking team of psychologists and psychological therapists. The post will be supported with regular supervision from experienced qualified clinicians, access to peer support and professional development opportunities.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will contribute to high-quality patient care in a cancer psychology setting, offering psychological support individually and in group settings under thesupervisionof a clinical psychologist. They will work alongside clinical nurse specialist teams, be involved in developing and co-facilitating training and participate in research and audit activities.
There will be opportunities for delivering training to other staff as guided by a supervisor, ensuring compliance with record-keeping guidelines, and engaging in service-related research under supervision. Additionally, they will work within the code of ethics and professional practice guidelines, keeping abreast of developments in clinical psychology.
