Job summary
As a registered midwife, the post holder is responsible for being the lead midwife for Antenatal and Newborn Screening.
The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement a high quality and uniform antenatal and newborn screening service, ensuring that guidance from the National Screening Committee is implemented.

Main duties of the job
Professional Responsibilities
- To be a visible expert practitioner within The YYY ensuring that Screening is available for all women, infants and their families and to work with the senior team to deliver this.
- To act as a resource to the Maternity Services multi-disciplinary team, and be actively involved in the multidisciplinary forums
- To support the senior team to lead an effective Screening service in the YYY.
- To work as an autonomous, competent practitioner, fulfilling the role of the midwife as defined in the Midwives Rules and Standards NMC 2004.
- To meet the NMC requirements to maintain registration and maintain professional development in line with PREP requirements.
- To ensure that clinical staff adhere to protocols and guidelines for practice and to work with the Practice Development team and Quality Midwife to ensure that these demonstrate best practice.
- To contribute to the development of policies and guidelines, audit and research within the maternity services, taking a lead in the subsequent change process.
- To identify personal learning needs and further develop professional knowledge and skills in line with both Maternity and Trust objectives.
- Participate in the implementation of action plans resulting from National Reports and Enquiries.
