Job summary

We are looking for an Assistant Audiologist to join a team of friendly and enthusiastic staff based at Castle Hill Hospital.

The Audiology Department sees patients of all ages. We undertake tests of hearing and balance for the diagnosis of hearing disorders, and provide a comprehensive digital hearing aid service. Our services extend to neighbouring hospitals and clinics serving a population of approximately 600,000.

Assistant Audiologists make routine adjustments, repairs and standard tests to hearing aids and earmoulds and take aural impressions that are used to make new earmoulds. Previous experience in audiology is not required because suitable training will be given, but applicants should have a good general education and GCSEs or their equivalents, preferably in science subjects. A-levels in science-related subjects would be an advantage. A personality appropriate to working with patients is essential and previous experience using hospital patient management systems is an advantage.

Please note that this advertised vacancy does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and therefore HUTH would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder healthcare scientist audiology assistant who works within well defined technical boundaries that are set by procedure and operating instruction. However, the position requires the application of initiative and the ability to act on changing patient information to accommodate a wide range of patient circumstances that arise during day-to-day work as described under responsibilities.
