Job summary
We are looking to recruit a full-time doctor to join the Stroke service on a 1 year fixed term contract.
An opportunity has arisen in the department of Stroke Medicine for a Clinical Fellow (Registrar ST3-5 grade) in Stroke Medicine. The post is integral to the continuing delivery of a high quality stroke service in a busy comprehensive stroke centre based primarily at Hull Royal Infirmary.
Neuroscience services in Hull have developed rapidly over the last few years and there is an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and transformation. Hull is a busy regional Neuroscience centre with Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology, Neurophysiology, Stroke and Rehabilitation departments with access to Psychological services. You will join a team of 6 Stroke Consultants supported by a skilled MDT including Stroke Nurse Coordinators.
Main duties of the job
This is a full time post with no on-call commitments for Stroke and there may be opportunities for locum on-call within the Medical rota.
The interested candidate should have completed at least three years' full-time postgraduate training or its equivalent experienced on a part-time or flexible basis. Stroke and neurology experience at junior level is desirable. The successful applicant will be expected to have full registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practise.
The post holder will participate in the care of stroke patients across the whole stroke pathway including assessment of TIA patients, assessment of patients for thrombolysis and thrombectomy, management of patients in the HASU and also Acute Stroke Unit. They will also support patients during rehabilitation preventing and managing medical complications alongside aiding patient and family decision making. Support for the out-patient follow up of patients following discharge will also form part of the role.
