Job summary

As a registered nurse, the post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care during their span of duty.

The Oncology/Haematology Day treatment unit is located in the Queens Centre at CHH and is currently open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm. It is a dedicated service to patients with malignant and non-malignant Oncology and Haematological diseases. The Unit requires an enthusiastic nurse to join the team in the delivery of treatment and investigations, including chemotherapy.

The state of the art outpatients includes medical consultations, radiotherapy treatment and a large day unit that delivers intravenous therapy. The Unit enjoys excellent resources that deliver specialist care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be willing to develop cannulation and systemic anti-cancer therapy administration skills.

Full training will be given. Good communication skills and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team are essential, as patients are cared for between ward and clinic areas. It is essential for the post holder to have or be willing to work towards a post basic qualification in a relevant field and complete a SACT UKONS Passport.

Four weeks supernumerary and full mentorship package will be offered to the successful candidate. In order to deliver the best nursing care to our patients we want to do our best to invest in you.As the post holder develops, they will be responsible for the training and supervision of others and as such, a teaching and assessing or mentoringqualification is desirable.
