NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST,(BAND 6) ,NUCLEAR MEDICINE DEPARTMENT

CASTLE HILL HOSPITAL/HULL ROYAL INFIRMARY

37.5 hrs per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Technologist/Radiographer to join our Team. The Nuclear Medicine Department provides a diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine service at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital.

The Department consists of three gamma cameras across 2 sites at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital. Two with SPECT/CT facility with one, a state of the art GE Starguide SPECT/CT scanner has been recently installed.

A PET/CT exists on the CHH site, currently supported by Alliance Medical. A new build molecular imaging research centre (MIRC) with cyclotron and radiopharmacy facilities is underway.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to provide Technologist duties in the Nuclear Medicine Departments including imaging, i.v. and intra-dermal administration of radiopharmaceuticals and in-vitro techniques on an ad-hock basis

The department operates between 07.30 am and 20.00 and a working times directive compliant shift system operates between these hours. This is likely to start earlier on the opening of the new Molecular Imaging Research Centre in which our new radiopharmacy facility will be housed.

Applicants must possess a BSc/HNC or equivalent in radiography, a science or health related subject and have completed competency based nuclear medicine training. Post qualification/radiopharmacy experience will be considered an advantage.

The work is varied and demanding with an emphasis on accuracy, reliability and adaptability. The post holder will be able to prioritise demanding workloads and work under their own initiative.

The post holder will be a key member of the Nuclear Medicine Team and will have direct contact with patients, medical, nursing and other staff. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are therefore essential.
