Job summary
We are seeking a Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to join our Rapid Response team. The post holder will gain experience working in an acute ward-based role working on the admission avoidance areas (ED, AMU, Frailty Assessment, fracture clinic), as well as providing physiotherapy input to other inpatient areas as required across the Medicine bed base . The post holder will work alongside colleagues to support the assessment of need across a range of clinical conditions. As a Senior Physiotherapist you will work with the wider team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and therapy assistants to deliver a high standard of therapy service to patients presenting in these hyper-acute clinical areas, as well as contributing to supporting junior staff and students.
We are seeking a person who can adapt to changing environments and make risk-assessed clinical decisions quickly and effectively. You will be expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team to identify and utilise the existing referral pathways into community services, in an attempt to avoid hospital admissions where possible.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate on the respiratory on-call rota, late shift rota (until 8pm) and week-end / bank holiday working.
Main duties of the job
You will provide a highly skilled physiotherapy assessment, advice and interventions to inpatients across the Rapid Response clinical areas as stated, plus other inpatient areas across Medicine as required. As this is a Static role , you will have an opportunity to support the Clinical Leads to develop and mold the service in line with Trust service objectives.
There will be an opportunity to supervise and support therapy assistants and therapy students .
You will need to work well as part of a team, be well organised and a good communicator. This would suit a band 5/existing band 6 physiotherapist who has gained core clinical skills and feels ready for the challenge of the static senior position in this exciting clinical area. It is imperative that candidates have 12 months experience of working in the NHS/UK as prior knowledge of NHS systems and processes is an essential criteria for this post.
The individual will be self motivated and aspirational, be able to assess in an effective and timely manner in a rapid paced environment.
Support will be provided by the Clinical Leads to enhance gaining of operational management skills appropriate for the post, and the post holder will be expected to contribute significantly to service planning, development and teaching owing to being a static role.
