Job summary
The successful candidate will work in the Daisy Building on the Castle Hill Hospital Site (the same site where all thyroid surgery is undertaken) under the direct supervision of Professor Greenman, Dr Green and Mr England. They will compile a body of work over a 2 year period culminating in award of the degree of MD assuming completion of successful TAP meetings and appropriate progress. The project will involve direct liaison with the clinical team particularly to collect samples for the ongoing work. It will be expected that the fellow will submit work to national/international meetings for presentation. Whilst the post is fully funded, the successful applicant will be expected to pay annual MD registration fees as is the norm.
Main duties of the job
The new appointee will pursue a higher degree in translational medicine on a thyroid-related topic working predominantly in the Daisy Building on the Castle Hill site under the supervision of Professor Greenman, Mr England and Dr Green. The laboratories are modern and fully equipped, with access to the University facilities as required. In addition, the successful candidate will cover the ENT Department for on call emergencies as second on in a 1 in 6 rotation with the other registrars. After discussion with the JCHST as the job is research it will not count towards time spent in ENT for further job applications
