An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and efficient Compliance Officer to join the Compliance Team, which is part of the Quality Governance Directorate at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The Quality Governance Directorate is led and managed by the Director of Quality Governance and works closely with the Chief Nurse, Chief Medical Officer and other colleagues across the organisation including the Executive Team, Corporate Services and Health Groups.

The role of the Compliance Officer is to provide the structure and support around the Trust's external statutory and regulatory requirements and internal compliance mechanisms, particularly relating to the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

You will be an experienced individual, who has a sound knowledge of the Care Quality Commission requirements, skills and experience in quality improvement as well as excellent communication, time management, presentation and prioritisation skills.

You will support the Trust to deliver high quality care by monitoring the arrangements for quality compliance and improvement and establishing effective governance systems and processes across all services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for

  • Managing procedural documents in line with Trust Policy, ensuring staff have easy access to the correct and up to date procedural documents to inform safe and effective care and treatment to our patients. Maintaining a comprehensive database, delivering the improvement plan and providing reports at all levels.
  • Report writing and attending various committee meetings across the Trust
  • Supporting the Head of Quality Compliance and Improvement in ongoing registration with the CQC also conducting due diligence checks and evidence collection on all newly registered services.
  • Supporting the delivery of the internal assurance plan to undertake inspections across all core services to seek assurances on what is working well, identify outstanding practices and the areas for improvement. Areas of improvement will be linked to quality improvement projects. You will support the delivery of the improvement plans, promoting a positive approach to change through the use of effective communication and recognised improvement tools
  • Responsible for the recording of accurate data electronically into various databases, helping to extract and analyse robust information to inform the assurance plan and improve compliance
  • Support the Compliance Manager and the Head of Quality Compliance and improvement in the development of the annual Quality Accounts
  • Delivery of the Trust Fundamental Standard Programme in relation to the staff and patient experience elements

HUTH has two main sites: Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital with an annual budget of approximately £500 million. The Trust employs around 11,000 staff and serves an extended population of 1.25 million, delivering a number of outpatient services from locations across the area.

The Trust's secondary care service portfolio is comprehensive, covering the major medical and surgical specialties, routine and specialist diagnostic services and other clinical support services.
