The Oncology & Haematology Department is looking to recruit a Patient Discharge Assistants (PDA). The successful candidate must be flexible and adaptable to working on a busy unit, covering the inpatient wards at the Queens Centre, Castle Hill Hospital.

We are offering a permanent position. The opportunities will be varied and interesting, changing on a regular basis.

Main duties of the job

This post involves skills and knowledge around progressing patients through the discharge process, communicating with relatives, social workers, and other multi professional staff.

The Patient Discharge Assistant will be expected to work as part of the ward team under the direction of the Nurse in Charge. They will facilitate the discharge of patients from the ward area in line with the Trust standards and policies. The post holder will liaise and communicate effectively with relatives, community colleagues, other allied health professionals and medical / nursing staff.

The post holder will be expected to maintain confidentiality and adopt a positive attitude towards staff, patients and relatives at all times.

HUTH provides specialist and tertiary services to a population of 1.25 million extending from Scarborough in North Yorkshire to Grimsby and Scunthorpe in North East and North Lincolnshire respectively.
