Job summary

To supervise the provision of a comprehensive and cost-effective catering production service that meets the needs of staff, visitors and patients, and fulfils the objectives of the Trust.

Duties will include preparation, production and service of food items in a food safe environment.

To work in accordance with Food Hygiene Regulations, Codes of Practice for Caterers and all relevant Trust Policy documents.

To allocate work and advise staff on lower grades within the retail services.

This is a full time Vacancy of 37.5 Hours. Possibly Part time available which can be discussed at interview. The retail services at Hull Royal Infirmary run from 06.30 though until 20.00. The Successful applicant will need to be able to work between these times 7 days a week including weekends and Bank holidays. Hours will be discussed at Interview.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the day to day operations of the retail team and to offer support to the wider catering team on site. Participating and supervising preparation and production of a wide variety of menu items (hot and cold including hospitality) in a timely manner to meet service demands.

Supervise transfer and storage of supplies and deliveries, following correct lifting and handling procedures.

Opening and closing checks to meet quality and safety standards.

Ensuring high standards of food safety, kitchen hygiene and personal hygiene including work wear for yourself and the team is adhered to at all times.

Ensure high standards of cleanliness in designated work areas within documented cleaning schedules and audits including any rectification action plans.

Compliance with the departmental Food Safety Policy and HACCP System.

Bending, lifting, handling and exposure to COSHH related detergent substances (e.g. dish-wash detergent and oven cleaners) is regular occurrence and full compliance with this is required.
