Children's Clinical Nurse Specialist for Epilepsy

Band 6

37.5 hours-Monday-Friday

Fixed Term contract initially until end of March 2025.

This post in being funded via the Integrated Care System to work across both Hull University Teaching Hospitals (HUTH) and North Lincolnshire & Goole Hospitals (NLAG). It is anticipated that this post will become permanent if the expected benefits of the role can be realised.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and flexible Registered Children's Nurse or Learning Disability Registered Nurse to join our Epilepsy Teams.

This is a new post funded via the Integrated Care Service initially until March 2025. The post holder will work across both HUTH & NLAG and will be joining established teams in both Trusts in a journey of transformation by supporting, developing and improving the transition of care arrangements for young people with epilepsy across both providers.

The successful applicant will work across both organisations to provide an expert nursing service to young people with epilepsy through the transition pathway from Children's to Adult services. It will be necessary to work flexibly across both organisations and to develop links with adult services

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic be expected to review the barriers and facilitators in the process of the transition of children and young people with epilepsy into adult health services with a focus on the five main issues highlighted in the NCEPOD-Transition report (2023):

  • Make developmentally appropriate healthcare core business for all involved
  • Involve young people and parent/carers in transition planning and transfer to adult services
  • Improve communication and co-ordination between all specialities
  • Organise healthcare services to enable young people to transfer to adult services effectively
  • Provide strong leadership at ICS and speciality level at all stages of transition and transfer

About us
