Job summary

If you are soon to qualify or keen to grow your skills in working with adults with a range of presenting needs this is an ideal post for you. Located in the Chichester Assessment and Treatment service (ATS) this post involves working directly with service users, families, carers and the wider system providing assessments, interventions and support to MDT colleagues. Our service users experience severe and enduring MH difficulties (including psychosis, bipolar mood, complex emotional needs). We have expanded our complex emotional needs (CEN) and psychosis pathways with transformation monies, posts and training attached. Our new Neighbourhood Team model aligns with NHS England plans to bring us closer to our communities, working alongside third sector colleagues, focusing on equality and diversity in the provision of services. We are led by a strong and compassionate leadership team and work hard to retain our staff, supporting them to grow and develop within our services.

We are keen to recruit someone with an interest in psychosis and / or OCD (other interests also supported). Experience is helpful but not essential as we can support you to access training and supervision. We work with research colleagues such as Prof Kathy Greenwood and Prof Clara Strauss in bringing research clinics (eg. voices clinic, OCD clinic, SlowMo) into the real world of our ATS teams. We have strong links with the University of Surrey Family Interventions in psychosis training.

Main duties of the job

In addition to the delivery of evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions, You will work closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues to support with case formulation and risk assessment. There will be opportunities to supervise band 5 and 6 psychological practitioners including assistant psychologists, mental health wellbeing practitioners and trainee clinical or counselling psychologists.

Chichester ATS has a small community of psychological professionals led by an experienced 8b Principal Practitioner Psychologist. There are regular opportunities to join with the wider group of PPs across Western Coastal West Sussex, sharing skills, training, supervision and where appropriate working together across teams. You will receive clinical supervision from an experienced practitioner psychologist with expertise in the interventions you are delivering and we have access to a range of additional supervision groups depending on your interests and needs.

SPFT places a strong emphasis on ongoing CPD with access to both internal and external trainings through our practice networks. We also understand the growing importance of leadership in the modern NHS and have set up bespoke leadership training programmes for Psychological practitioners across the pay bands in SPFT with a strong emphasis on compassionate leadership and wellbeing for staff.
