Job summary

Band 6 Registered Nurse; Spring Tide, Intensive Treatment Program for CYP with Eating Disorders

We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic Registered Clinician to join Spring Tide for 4 days a week on a permanent contract.

Spring Tide works with young people aged 10-18, with an eating disorder, and their families, supporting recovery through evidenced based interventions such as the Maudsley Family Therapy models and E-CBT. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality evidenced based treatment in accordance with NICE Guidelines and National Access and Waiting Times Standards.

You will work as a member of the clinical team, providing a high quality, specialist systemic psychotherapy service to clients, their families or carers. In addition, you will be required to support systemic thinking and practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.

You will participate in systematic clinical governance and offer clinical supervision to junior nursing colleagues and student nurses. You will have the opportunity to undertake audits, contribute to (and lead on) quality improvement, service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

You will be required to facilitate and co facilitate groups, you will be required to be in charge of the unit and you will be required to organise and chair meetings. Training in FT-AN will be provided if the post holder does not already possess this.

Main duties of the job

To provide a qualified, high-quality specialist nursing service to individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams, in line with best, evidence-based practice and trust care pathways.

To be responsible for holding and managing a clinical caseload and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritising of own workload and the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients, within the bounds of the service operational policy.

To use analytical and professional judgement skills and be responsible for making clinical management decisions in complex clinical issues.

To clinically supervise junior nursing colleagues, nursing students and other staff as appropriate.

To complete assessments of those referred to the service and outcome this in a timely manner in line with code of Conduct

To provide consultation, mentorship, supervision and advice about clinical nursing issues to other members of the team/service and other professionals working with service users, across a range of agencies/ settings as appropriate.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of nursing practice within the service/team.

To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the team's development through the deployment of professional skills and audit. To support management on those aspects of the service where nursing and/or organisational matters need addressing.

  • Experience of supervising staff preferred although not essential.

MAIN DUTIES

  • To carry out specialist nursing assessments of young people referred to the service. Devise comprehensive care plans and risk assessments and co-ordinate this care and treatment. Regularly review progress with the goal of transferring their care to an alternative care provider when stabilised
  • To formulate and implement plans for nursing treatment and/or management.
  • To be responsible for implementing a range of nursing interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups.
  • Support junior nursing colleagues as well as Senior nursing colleagues in the team
  • Have oversight of the Physical Health Clinics and to take charge of the unit
  • Manage own caseload of complex cases, this will involve attending meetings relating to their care and treatment, this may require organisation of the meeting, chairing of the meeting and overseeing the completion of actions from the meeting
  • Liaising with internal and external agencies involved in the care and treatment of the CYP
  • Escalate any concerns/ safeguarding in line with policy and protocol

Our team is responsible for covering all of Sussex, and is based in Hove. Due to the nature of the intervention staff are required on site every day, although there is some opportunities to work remotely in agreement with your line manager.
