Job summary

We are looking for a committed Band 6 Charge Nurse to join us as part of a dedicated team of professionals that provides the highest standards of care and support to people with Acute Mental Health needs.

The post-holder will assess, plan and implement care carrying out specialist nursing procedures

You will provide clinical and managerial leadership to junior staff whilst assisting the Ward Manager with the effective running of the Ward

This post will be based on Amberley Ward which is an 18-bedded all-femaleAcute Mental Health ward.

We are building a new hospital in Bexhill to replace our inpatient services at the Department of Psychiatry. This means that, if you are successful in your application, you will be asked to transfer to the new facilities when they open in 2026

Main duties of the job

As a Charge Nurse you will have opportunities to deliver patient-centred care supporting patients in their recovery. You will be a vital part of our multi-disciplinary team undertaking detailed assessments of patients with complex mental health needs. You will be expected to administer and monitor medication

You will provide clinical and managerial leadership on the ward, supervising junior staff and trainees and regularly taking charge of the clinical environment over a span of duty. We work closely with other teams and professionals to ensure the effective discharge of patients.

We work flexibly in order to meet the needs of our 24-hour service, to include evenings, nights and weekends. This brings increased pay rates as detailed below
