This post will predominantly be based at the Millwood Unit in Uckfield which sits in beautiful countryside area near Ashdown Forest. It has a train link to central London and good road links to Brighton, Eastbourne and South Coast.
Millwood is a lively community Assessment and Treatment Service that offers a wide range of evidence-based treatments for people with severe and enduring mental health problems.
Main duties of the job
As a mental health social worker in the service in our service you will be focussed on improving the lives of the people who use our service users, working creatively with them and their carers to co-create care and safety plans that will help them achieve their goals and live as independently as possible. The key to successful outcomes often hinges on building effective partnerships with GPs, statutory agencies and third sector providers and this wider systemic work is where our social workers can really make the difference.
We work with highly vulnerable people and we need the expertise of social workers to help us understand and help mitigate risks of abuse.

The post-holder is part of the multi disciplinary team, providing assessment and treatment for adults with severe and enduring mental health conditions;
They will need to be conversant with legal duties under MHA 1983, MCA and the Care Act, including Safeguarding of Adults at Risk and Children; They need to be able to produce reports and clear written documentation They will need to hold a case load of patients as well as contributing to the Duty sytsem and conducting comprehensive holistic assessments.
They will be required to visit families to assess and offer support and occasionally to visit patients in out of area placements to attend reviews and Case Conferences
