Job summary
We are excited to be offering a Senior Nurse Practitioner opportunity within the Coastal West Sussex Perinatal Team and are looking to recruit a band 7 Registered Mental Health Nurse. Full time or part time hours will be considered.
This role will build on previous clinical experience and professional leadership skills, with a lead role in delivering supervision, supporting lead practitioners and directing the duty service in the locality. This role requires previous experience of working within the Perinatal Mental Health field and the successful candidate will also be responsible for delivering in depth caseload reviews and supporting the practitioners in the team.
The successful candidate will work closely with the SNPs in the other localities to innovate and shape our service with a focus on quality improvement and expanding our participation workstream within teams.

Main duties of the job
As a senior nurse practitioner (SNP) in the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health service you will be working closely with psychiatrists, psychologists and other clinical practitioners, as well as management and administration colleagues, to provide a mental health service for individuals with perinatal mental health problems. We offer assessment and treatment in clinic community settings as well as in the home. The service also works closely with other agencies such as children and family services, primary care as well as non-statutory organisations. The SNP role offers senior clinical support to the wider team. The postholder will lead on aspects of clinical service delivery such as the duty system and some key deliverable areas from the Long Term Plan for Mental Health. They will hold a caseload but also offer clinical and caseload review and professional support and supervision to the nurses in the team. They will play a key role in safeguarding and attend the local and trust wide forums associated with this. They will work closely with the Team Leaders to support team wellbeing and the delivery of a quality perinatal service in all areas. There will be an expectation to be primarily in CWS but also to travel within Sussex as required.

The Long Term Plan for Mental Health sets out national and local ambitions to improve care for people in pregnancy through the first stages of the babies life who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health difficulties.
One in five women experience post or ante natal depression, anxiety or in some cases psychosis, during pregnancy or in the first year after childbirth.
Perinatal community mental health services provide specialist care for women and birthing people (and their babies) with moderate to severe mental illness, such as bipolar disorder or severe depression. The long-term benefits of this kind of specialist care offers early help and support to parents and babies to help with a range of perinatal issues including parent infant bonding.
Sussex Partnership have a Perinatal Mental Health Service which is Sussex wide and delivered by four teams. The service is committed to delivering a high quality service with a strong focus on staff wellbeing.
