Job summary
Are you excited by the opportunity to utilise advanced neurodevelopmental skill set in assessing children for ASC and signposting families? If you are eager to integrate specific skills aligned with your professional training to enhance your assessment whilst also working collaboratively with other disciplines in your team then we would be excited to meet you for an interview. Working within a wider pathway across all Sussex the NDP is commissioned locally by the ICB to provide assessment and signposting services to young people and their families experiencing neuro-divergence . The service will provide evidence -based ND assessment following a robust and systematic screening and information gathering process. We assess for autism for all children 11-18. We also assess and medically treat young people and their families experiencing ADHD from the age of 6-18 years. Although this role will not be involved in leading assessments in this area. Neither will this role carry a case-load of young people on medication requiring regular review. However, there is often cross over and joint diagnosis is common. So a breadth of knowledge and experience around all ND (ASC and ADHD) is helpful as joint working /assessment will be part of the role.
Main duties of the job
As Senior Mental Health Practitioner /Therapist you will be central to the ND pathway, typically:
Completing triage , initial screening / assessment and agreeing suitability for an ND assessment with the Clinical Lead,
Delivering, and supporting others to deliver assessments, brief psychologically informed interventions, in individual formats for the client group
Communicating with junior, senior and peer colleagues and relevant partner services throughout the wider CAMHS network
Attending and sometimes leading MDT meetings, business meetings and other locally appropriate governance structures.
You will have expertise in delivering evidence based, in depth and comprehensive assessments as well as brief psychological therapies, including working with complex presentations, and be able to support the team and others via formulation and training and by participating in systematic clinical governance.
