Job summary

Led by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and in partnership with YMCA Downslink and Southdown, Brighton and Hove Wellbeing Service provides a community-based range of evidence based therapeutic and clinical interventions to support children, young people and adults with mild to moderate mental health needs. Our service is based in the community and located primarily within SPFT venues and GP Practices. We receive referrals from a number of routes including self-referrals and by General Practitioners, working closely with community and secondary care Mental Health services.

We are recruiting a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join our NHS Talking Therapies Service.

As an NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression service (NHS TT) we offer a full range of NHS TT compliant therapies and job roles. As a service we support people presenting with mild to moderate anxiety disorders and depression.

Main duties of the job

The PWP role involves offering CBT informed guided self-help, working with clients via the telephone, using online platforms (including silvercloud) and delivering psychoeducational courses.

Requirements

In order for you to apply for this role You will need a postgraduate certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Therapies, experience delivering PWP interventions within an NHS TT service, excellent team skills and proven ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients.

Job responsibilities

To provide high quality primary care NHS TT services to adults with mild to moderate mental health problems using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based, self-management interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of team policies and procedure.

To deliver NHS TTservices in accordance with NICE guidelines, within agreed activity levels and model, meeting required key performance indicators (KPIs).

To provide advice and consultation on clients care, to other clinicians and to non-professional carers.

To promote wellbeing and social inclusion.

To work flexibly and in accordance with service demands.

The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities

To work to the agreed number of clinical contacts per week as set by the Team Lead

Scope & Authority:

  • To provide a high-quality low intensity psychological therapy service to individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams as appropriate, in line with best, evidence-based practice and trust care pathways including group therapy.

  • To communicate and liaise where appropriate with all other professionals involved in the individual clients treatment and on-going mental health care.

  • To provide regular information to clients GP and/or referrer about the treatment process and outcome, initial and on-going risk assessments, making appropriate disclosure and onward referrals where necessary.

  • To improve wellbeing through interventions and encouraging access to other agencies that provides wellbeing initiatives and promotes social inclusion.

  • To make decisions regarding suitability for therapy and clinical pathways with particular regard to issues of risk and onward referrals to other specialist services as required.

  • To formulate and implement treatment plans with clients, normally within an agreed brief structured time frame and contracted number of sessions by offering NICE compliant one to one interventions, NICE compliant group interventions and on-line therapy.

  • To exercise sound theoretical knowledge of evidence based psychological intervention and to employ a range of short-term interventions to meet the needs of the referred client.

  • To manage own clinical caseload within guidelines provided by the team lead and relevant professional guidelines and ethical frameworks (PWP Code of Practice).

  • To provide a level of activity in accordance with service level agreements and as agreed by team lead

  • To contribute to in service training events through presentations, with information relating to good working practice, special projects and procedural changes.
