Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join the busy Forensic Social Work Team at the Hellingly Centre as the Social Work Assistant for the three medium secure wards and one low secure ward on site.

The successful candidate will support and contribute to the social work team's work throughout patients' care pathways in the Forensic Healthcare Service. This includes specific practical roles at the point of admission, during rehabilitation and nearing discharge. They will be an integral member of the social work team and the ward multi-disciplinary teams. Engaging and working with patients' families and multiple external agencies is core to this role.

Main duties of the job

You must be friendly, approachable, motivated and hard working with a passion for working with clients who may exhibit challenging behaviours at times. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to effective team working; have excellent communication and organisational skills and be actively involved in interventions for patients admitted to our medium and low secure hospital.

Essential

  • NVQ level 4 in a relevant subject (e.g. Social Care, Health ) OR Extensive clinical experience and evidence of professional development in the specific work setting the application is being made
  • Care Certificate (or complete this within a reasonable time fame)

Knowledge/Experience
