SubstantiveBand 4 Senior Health Care Assistant - CAMHS Eating Disorder Intensive Treatment Day Service (JD subject to evaluation)
We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic Senior Health Care Assistant to join our Young Persons Eating Disorder Day Service (Springtide).
Based at Aldrington House (Hove) Springtide is a new provision following increased investment into the Eating Disorder pathway across Sussex, accepting referrals from across Sussex.
The clinical model is based on the highly acclaimed Maudsley Intensive Treatment programme to offer support for 10 young people each day.
Springtide provides an intensive group program for young people with an Eating Disorder diagnosis aged from 11-18 years of age. The program provides treatment for those with Anorexia Nervosa/ Bulimia Nervosa and Atypical Anorexia Nervosa and supports recovery through Evidence Based Interventions.
The Day Service Aims include:
Supporting young people and families through a comprehensive 14-week group programme, entailing family therapy, CBT based groups, life skills and supported eating.
Prevention of need for an inpatient admission thereby allowing young people to be treated closer to home.
You will not only join a service with a highly skilled and experienced multidisciplinary team, but joining at an exciting time as the team is new and developing, demonstrating amazing outcomes. We continue to undergoing development and investment across the pathway.
Main duties of the job
You will identify and deliver relevant treatments and interventions, liaising where appropriate with families, carers and the professional network.
These include: -
Promotion of health and safety maintaining best practice
To support meals and snack time for young people and their families.
Physical health monitoring and support e.g. weight and height, blood pressure.
To work with the MDT to ensure young people receive quality care and intervention.
Share ideas with colleagues to improve care and suggest areas for innovation.
Adhere to legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines both local and national regularly attend workplace and staff engagement meetings, contribute positively to discussions about the improvement of care.
You will support and develop our junior support workers in the service, participate in case discussions, prepare rota's, review risk assessments and care plans, participate in assessments for admission and discharge planning, support the delivery of the program by attending groups and supporting the facilitation of these, supporting meal times, provide Psychoeducational support, conduct physical health checks/ reviews and assess the mental health of the person already open to the team. You will escalate any concerns to the senior team on duty.

Experience at supervising junior staff is desirable
Part-time hours can be considered in line with the organisations policy. You are expected to be on site for this role,

To establish and maintain empathic, supportive relationships with people in distress, their families and carers.
To receive, understand and communicate confidential client information of a sensitive and often complex nature, including discussing care with family members, within boundaries of confidentiality.
To communicate in a sensitive reassuring manner, with empathy.
To liaise with other teams and services including external agencies as required for the wellbeing of patients.
To concentrate on specific activities for up to an hour at a time.
To manage conflicting demands in an unpredictable work pattern.
To work flexibly and adapt to each person as appropriate to their needs in a variety of settings.
To be an active participant in the multi-disciplinary team, formulating care plans and utilising appropriate assessments.
To ensure that all those open to the team have an individual risk assessment and care plan which has been created collaboratively.
To monitor, evaluate and modify interventions/treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention(s).
To provide care group specific specialised range of clinical interventions and knowledge of evidence-based models of practice.
To work autonomously, competently and safely with the utilisation of supervision and the expertise of colleagues as required.
To work in partnership with other agencies to gain the best person-centred interventions.
