Job summary

To support the Mental Health Act Coordinators in undertaking of the day-to-day administration and implementation of the Mental Health Act 1983 ("the Act") and associated legislation. Covering all care groups and General Hospitals where appropriate.

Undertake the administration of the Associate Hospital Managers booking system, ensuring that panels are booked for patient hearings across Sussex using agreed processes.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will provide support to the Mental Health Act Coordinators on a day-to-day basis in undertaking the administration of the Act including uploading of and chasing reports, completing a second line of scrutiny on documentation relating to patient's detention and taking applicable action as required. Preparation of hearing decision forms and support the process of clerking face to face and virtual hearings

The postholder will undertake the day to day administration of the Associate Hospital Manager (AHM) panel booking process. Dealing with email requests received from Mental Health Act Team across the Trust for panels to be booked for patient hearings. To follow process to obtain AHM availability and to book panels accordingly. To deal with all administrative queries and tasks linked with the process for booking, amending and cancelling AHM panels, as appropriate to the job role.
