Job summary

Shepherd House is a 15 bedded recovery unit, supporting working age people to manage their mental health problems. We run a group programme, offer one to one session's, with our predominate aim being to encourage integration into the community and promote independence.

As an OT technician you will be guided by the Occupational Therapist in your work, but expected to be able to work autonomously.

You will be expected to use a recovery approach in assisting service users to follow their treatment plan and work towards their chosen goals.

It is important that you have good communication skills both verbal and written skills for liaison with service users, their families, colleagues and other agencies. General computer and administration skills are also required to support the running of the service. Ability to network with other community services is essential especially in assisting Service user's smooth integration into the community, such as accessing vocational resources.

Experience in working with people with mental health problems is preferred for this post. However, most importantly the successful candidate should be self motivated, keen to learn and have a clear understanding of how to support peoples recovery.

The post is for 3 days a week (working two Sundays a month).
