Are you a role model for good Social Work practice?

Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for the next step in your career?

The Hampshire Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) are delighted to offer this opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join the team as Social Work Consultant.

We are very excited to announce this new role, which is dedicated to the leadership and continuing development of the social work profession within CAMHS and to provide expert clinical intervention for service users with complex and challenging needs.

We currently have over 50 employed Social Workers at Hampshire CAMHS, most of whom work in generic roles such as Team Manager or Mental Health Practitioner. We have worked hard to make sure that our Social Workers are well supported and that they are enabled to champion their profession within an NHS Mental Health setting.

We're looking for someone who shares the same dedication and passion for the job as we do, someone who understands the scope of this opportunity and has the relevant skills and experience to help us achieve our ambitions.

Children and young people are our future - be part of writing a better life story for them.

Main duties of the job

Your role will be to provide expert clinical intervention for service users with complex and challenging needs. As well as providing clinical leadership across the Social Work workforce within Hampshire CAMHS and multidisciplinary teams.

You will be working closely with and providing expert advice to the Directors for Social Work, the Hampshire Clinical Lead and Professional Leads for Nursing, Psychology, Doctors and Psychological Therapies to contribute to SPFT's Social Work Strategy and overall clinical strategy.

50% of your role will be dedicated to Professional Leadership for Social Work and 50% to Clinical Work to include patient facing &/or pathway leadership providing expert social work intervention, advice and consultancy.

You will also be involved in supporting a number of key ambitions, which include:

  • Further developing the 'in-house' ASYE programme to enable us to recruit newly qualified social workers who have a passion to work in NHS Mental Health Services
  • Supporting the running and development of our existing social work forums within SPFT
  • Developing robust clinical and professional supervision matrix for all social workers to make sure that they are fully supported and enabled to reach their potential at SPFT
