Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Practitioner Psychologist to join our Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIPS) in the Western locality (Bognor and Chichester), based at the Bedale Centre in Bognor Regis. Applications from people due to qualify this year are also welcome.

The Bognor EIPS are a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team providing support and treatment to people aged 14 - 65 who have experienced either a First Episode of Psychosis or present with an At Risk Mental State. We are looking for an enthusiastic Practitioner Psychologist with strong clinical skills, to offer evidence-based psychological interventions to service users and their families. Psychological approaches are highly valued by the team, and you will have the opportunity to support psychologically-informed practice within the team. You will be closely supported by the Senior Psychologist in the team, and will be joining a positive and welcoming community of staff from the psychological professions working across EIPS in the Trust.

Main duties of the job

As a Practitioner Psychologist working in our Bognor EIPS, your main duty is to contribute to the provision of high quality psychological services from the team. This will include offering psychological and cognitive assessments, and evidence-based psychological interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis and Family Interventions for Psychosis.There are opportunities for ongoing clinical skill development, including training in Family Interventions in Psychosis available in our Trust. You will also have the opportunity to develop your consultation, supervisory and leadership skills by assisting with team case formulations, consultations and training in order to support the team in delivering psychologically-informed care.

You will be provided with individual clinical supervision, group supervision for Family Interventions and CBTp, as well as opportunities to link with other Practitioner Psychologists both within EIP and other services, for peer support. You will be able to develop your special interests and expertise in line with service and team objectives, and will be supported in your continuing professional development.

Sussex Partnership provides mental health and learning disability care for all age groups across Sussex and for children and young people in Hampshire.

The Bognor EIP team is one of six Early Intervention in Psychosis teams provided by the Trust. The teams have a single service-wide leadership and governance group which oversees and leads on the delivery of care. Organisationally, the teams sit within the Trust's Children and Young People's Services division.

  • Experience of specialist psychological working (assessment, formulation and treatment) with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of applied psychology
  • High level of knowledge and skills in neuropsychology
  • Experience of the application of applied psychology in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framework
