Job summary

The Musculoskeletal (MSK) Service at Sussex Partnership is looking to recruit a Band 7 Senior Occupational Therapist to their pain management team in East Sussex.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled clinician with an interest in self-management of persistent pain to join a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated multidisciplinary team as part of an integrative MSK service. You will be employed by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and deliver care in collaboration with other NHS providers under the Sussex MSK Partnership.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with the multidisciplinary team to provide a holistic approach to self-management, playing an integral role in ensuring the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist service for adults living with persistent pain. You will be the senior OT within the pain service Occupational Therapy Team, providing guidance, leadership for OT-led projects. You will provide assessment & therapeutic interventions for a clinical caseload, specialist advice, consultation, training & support to other professionals. Collaborative working with service users & carers is integral to our approach & you will be involved in developing, sustaining patient-led peer support and patient involvement initiatives.We incorporate a range of innovative clinical approaches in group work which you will help deliver. An induction & training for these will be provided. We also aim to develop individuals within their roles including exposure to service development projects appropriate to grade.

Within the pain MDT, the OT leads on specific projects relating to engaging in meaningful activity & supporting individuals to sustain & return to a form of paid employment. There will be scope to develop OT provision within the service, and to support/supervise OT students whilst on placement. You will join a large existing team of OT's working within the Trust & will have opportunities to be part of broader CPD activity, eg. attending the annual mental health conference.
