Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate, empathic and experienced Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Nurse to work within a dynamic MDT supporting people experiencing First Episode Psychosis, their carers and families in North Westand Mid Sussex.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Nurse to work as a Lead Practitioner, to complement our existing multidisciplinary Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) service based in Horsham. Horsham EIP is well-resourced team of passionate, talented and creative individuals, offering a wide range of specialisms.

This is a fixed term post until August 2024 . Although the vacancy is advertised as full time , part - time will also be considered.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will support a caseload of clients by way of effective care co-ordination and offering creative recovery focused psychosocial interventions across a variety of settings.

You will be collaboratively creating treatment plans for people with complex presentations whilst working as part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team.

You need to have a keen interest and commitment to understandingthe principles and ethos of early intervention and this client group.

Previous experience of supporting clients with psychosis and complex mental health and social care difficulties is required.

About us

Horsham EIP is one of six EIP teams across Sussex. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an expanding team within Sussex EIP.

You will be supported by the team leader and the wider MDT via clinical supervision, managerial supervision, andprofessional supervision with our OT clinical lead. We also have regular MDT zoning meetings and risk discussions, reflective practice sessions and case formulation meetings.

As a service we offer a real commitment to support your continuing professional development through a variety of internal and external training opportunities and university accredited courses.

The base for this post is in Horsham however the team regularly works flexibly and remotely using a range of digital solutions for meetings and consultations.

They will demonstrate an understanding of interventions relevant to clients with Psychosis to include education, care plans and discharge planning, working closely with carers, families and partner agencies to facilitate this. The post holder will work at all times to promote the safety and the well-being of service users and their families/carers. The post holder will assess, plan and implement care, and provide specialist advice and carry out specialist assessments. There will be opportunities for the Lead Practitioner to develop leadership skills and provide supervision to junior staff and students.
