Job summary
There are currently Staying Well services located in Brighton and Eastbourne that are provided by Southdown. They provide an open access evenings and weekends, to anyone aged over 18 years who is experiencing mental health distress including a self- defined crisis. Staying Well provides an alternative for them to an A&E as they can access the help they need in a timely way expecting the same outcomes as they can refer to other teams and services. The team is fully integrated with VCSE providers working in partnership with Sussex Partnership Trust
We are looking for experienced and registered mental health professionals from all disciplines, including Social Workers, Nurses and OT to become Staying Well practitioners who will support the Recovery Workers in delivering person centred care in a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment.
We have vacancies in Eastbourne and Brighton that are located in the Staying Well services. The service operates every day of the year and the shifts are Monday to Friday from 4.pm until 11pm and weekends 2pm until 11pm. We have opportunities for full and part time and flexible working.
Some staff may be eligible for location packages and incentives
This post offers an incentive or relocation package up to the maximum of £4000 (pro rata applies and subject to terms and conditions).
Main duties of the job
- To provide clinical leadership to the Staying Well service, its functions and staff.
- To work collaboratively with clients, service colleagues and other agencies to prevent A&E attendances and acute hospital admissions, delivering behaviours in line with the VCSE partners and Trust's values.
- Work effectively with the Trusts Street Triage and Blue Light Triage teams as well as emergency services by providing the opportunity for assessment to those in crisis as an alternative to them accessing A&E, when there is no medical need.
- To provide advice and assist with decision making, sharing any crisis and treatment plan outcomes with colleagues within Staying Well, as well as external services and agencies to gain the best person-centred outcomes for individuals in crisis.
- Provide a range of 1:1 psycho-social interventions that could include distress intolerance techniques, Mindfulness, distraction and stabilisation, solution focussed interventions and relapse prevention/crisis planning.
- Support Recovery Workers and Peer Workers to develop and deliver a range of group activities.
- Provide opportunities for supervision and reflective practice to Recovery Workers and peer workers
