Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate, empathic pharmacist to work within a dynamic MDT supporting people experiencing first episode psychosis and, their carers across Sussex. The post holder will have some flexibility to negotiate a nominal base most suitable to them, but will be expected to work in an agile way, supporting the team and multiagency colleagues across East and West Sussex.
You will support three different teams, assisting the EIP Service Principle Pharmacist and Advanced Clinical Practitioner in ensuring a safe, evidence-based delivery of all pharmacological interventions, with emphasis on:
- ensuring appropriate management of side effects,
- improving compliance with prescribed treatment,
- improving access to clozapine in early onset schizophrenia,
- improving physical health outcomes, and
- value based practice as much as evidence based practice.
Main duties of the job
Previous experience of supporting clients with severe mental illness is required as well as independent prescribing qualification. You need to be passionate about pharmacy as well as holistic treatment, committing to understanding the principles of early intervention and this client group. You will be supported by the EIP service Principle Pharmacist and Advanced Clinical Practitioner as well as team leaders and the wider MDT via clinical supervision, managerial supervision, professional supervision, daily MDT zoning meetings and risk discussions, reflective practice discussions and case formulation meetings.
