Job summary

We have a exciting vacancy for an Expert by Experience in our Forensic Healthcare services. The role of Service user lead is an integral part of our leadership team ensuring that the 'patient voice' is heard and that we continue to work collaboratively and innovatively to improve the patient experience. You will be working as part of a team of professional leads and operational managers to influence and achieve our participation strategy as well as other strategic objectives. You will also be working closely with the Trust participation team. The role will involve working with patients across our three inpatient services in East and West Sussex whilst also supporting our patients in the community.

Main duties of the job

o Attendance and presenting at senior meetings .o Proactively working to ensure they are linked in with the existing service user/carer forumso Chairing of Patient focus groupso Representing the service both internal / externallyo Attendance at Leadership Forums and to provide a specialist insight regarding patients and carers matters at these eventso Provide a positive challenge to senior leaders in relation to service user and carer involvemento Working with service users/cares/local communities and build relationshipso Providing support and reassurance to service users to enable them to contribute to service improvemento Providing and developing performance data that help convey the service user voice in a clear wayo Developing systems and processes for enabling feedback from service userso Developing evidence base in relation to service user and carer feedbacko Sharing findings of feedback at a senior levelo Being part of or leading projects as agreed by the senior leadership team

The Forensic Healthcare Delivery Service works with Service Users who have been in contact with the criminal justice system.   • Educated to degree/ diploma level with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience
  • Post graduate management qualification or equivalent level of experience and proven ability to perform at this level

Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Lived experience of mental health problems including experience of mental health services
  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders in the redesign of services
  • Experience of managing a diverse multi-site team
  • Experienced service user involvement, preferably within mental health service
  • Understanding of surveys (such as the friends and family test) and their potential and the ability to provide and receive complex and emotive information with staff, service users, carers and other stakeholders
  • Experience in the leading and development of service user involvement programmes
  • Proven experience of delivering successful programmes of service improvement
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrable evidence of the application of these
