Job summary

Within your role as a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will join the New Forest CAMHS Clinical leadership team to ensure that quality driven assessments and evidence-based treatments are provided to young people experiencing a range of mental health problems. You will play an integral part in delivering and developing clinical care pathways in line with best practice and will be supported to develop innovative ways of working.

Main duties of the job

Hampshire CAMHS has a solid structure for Clinical Psychology. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the leadership and development of the psychology team in the New Forest as well as multidisciplinary leadership opportunities including clinical supervision of junior staff and clinical psychology trainees.

Supervision of your own clinical practice, training and continued professional development will be supported by Principle Clinical Psychologists in the wider service and your Team Managers. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and receive high standards of supervision including secondary supervision packages such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, neurodevelopmental and group work as required.

There is an excellent opportunity to develop and re-establish the evidence-based group programme delivery within the New Forest, alongside regular liaison with the 16+ psychological wellbeing services within the local community to support access to appropriate psychological treatment outside of CAMHS where safe to do so.

As one of the largest providers of children and young people's mental health, our Care Delivery Service (CDS) provides care across Sussex and Hampshire. We are supported by our Clinical Academic Group (CAG) to put research, innovation and learning into practice. You will join the Hampshire Psychology group contributing to our innovation and commitment to ongoing service improvement and compassionate care.

Our services build on our CYP-IAPT learning and 'delivering with and delivering well' and we have built the infrastructure to sustain this with our collaborative work with our service users who help shape our transformation with their lived experience. Our Psychology and intern infrastructure support the meaningful use of the service wide outcome measures framework.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK], including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, approved by the HPC
  • Professional Registration with HCPC

Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
  • Demonstrate specialist experience gained postqualification of working as an applied psychologist with evidence of having received a substantial amount of clinical supervision (normally in the region of approximately 50 hours).
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
  • Experience of the application of applied psychology in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framework
  • Knowledge of guidance and legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc)
  • High level of knowledge and skills in neuropsychology and evidence of further practice and/or training since qualification.
  • Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HPC
