Job summary
We are seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and multi-skilled Site Maintenance Operative/Groundsman to join our motivated and dynamic team.
As a Maintenance Operative/Groundsman at Lindridge you will provide service users with the highest standard of support service, ensuring that their physical, social and emotional needs are met. You will ensure the building and the exterior areas are kept in a safe working condition and that repairs are completed in a reasonable time frame. You will be able to drive, have good communication skills (Verbal, Written and IT) and will be required to act as a Care Champion in all that you do.

Main duties of the job
As a Maintenance Operative/Groundsman in consultation with our Home Manager, you will perform a variety of manual tasks to ensure our Home and grounds are free from hazards and to maintain all equipment and systems safe and in full working order. You will be responsible for ensuring regular tests and checks are carried out and recorded and you will liaise with external contractors on work beyond the scope of general repair and maintenance.
You will be an integral part of our well-established multi-disciplinary team and we want your expertise, values and commitment to contribute to the ongoing quality of service and care.
You will act in a dignified and responsible manner with service users, visitors, carers and colleagues; listening carefully and responding using appropriate language and communication skills which acknowledge cultural differences and professional boundaries.

In order to be a successful Maintenance Operative/Groundsman in our team you will have:
- Relevant building maintenance experience - ideally in a care home setting
- A valid UK Driving Licence
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Comfortable working with others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practices
It would also be advantageous if you have:
- ONC qualification in Building Construction or equivalent
MAIN DUTIES
- To operate a planned system of general maintenance and repair ensuring the smooth running of all plant machinery and equipment, including safety and state of repair.
- To carry out general maintenance and repairs to the building fabric, windows, finishings, furnishings, systems fixtures and fittings as required by the Home Manager.
- To liaise with external contractors on work beyond the scope of general repair and maintenance.
- To provide general support to the home in the form of driving, delivering, collecting, cleaning, furniture moving, and rubbish removal as appropriate.
- To carry out all regular health and safety and maintenance checks and to keep records as required under the Homes Maintenance Manual.
- To ensure that all approaches to the Home are accessible, neat, tidy and clear of any hazards. To secure the residents property and the Homes premises. To report any defects, damage, theft or breakages.
- Have due regard to the privacy of the residents when carrying out general maintenance/gardening work.
- Undertake ground maintenance, keeping grass cut, bushes and hedges pruned and the site generally leaf and weed free.
- To recognise own responsibility in and contribute to the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- To ensure strict confidentiality is maintained at all times and that records are kept in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
