Job summary

We are seeking to recruit passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic Assistant Psychologists to join our Specialist Sussex-Wide Family Eating Disorder Service (SFEDS). SFEDS works with young people aged 10-18 with Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa and their families, and supports recovery through Evidence Based Interventions such as Maudsley Family Therapy models and E-CBT. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality evidenced based treatment in accordance with NICE Guidelines and National Access and Waiting Time Standards.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to SFED referral triage team
  • Supporting initial assessments and psychology assessments
  • Supporting the facilitation of groups
  • Conducting service evaluation
  • Audit projects
  • Undertaking tasks to enhance the use of routine outcome measures

We are looking for someone with a specific interest and passions for working with young people and families/carers who are suffering from an eating disorder. You will need to be able to work flexibly within an MDT and have well developed interpersonal skills. The post holder will be clinically supervised and managed by a Clinical Psychologist.

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of triage, initial assessments and psychological assessments. Whilst direct individual clinical work is not part of the post, there will be an opportunity to support colleagues in developing shared formulations, care plans and risk assessments for young people and their families. There will also be an opportunity to support and co-facilitate groups.

Evaluation of interventions and the impact of the service in terms of benefit to clients is an important component of what we strive to do. The post holder is central to collection of data and auditing of the service, in particular collecting outcome measures and service user feedback. Applicants MUST have experience of working both as a paid Assistant Psychologist and working with children and young people within a mental health setting.
