Job summary
Do you want to develop the knowledge and understanding to work within a trauma informed model of care?
Working with women in a low secure setting is both challenging and rewarding, and the experience will help you to develop a psychologically informed skill set that you will be able to draw on for the rest of your nursing career.
As a Staff Nurse on Hazel ward, you will have the opportunity to be part of delivering our ambitious clinical nursing strategy, to ensure that "secure recovery" (Drennan & Alred, 2012) is embedded within the ward.
On Hazel ward we understand that recovery cannot be forced. What we can do is create relationships, opportunities and environments that may foster a person's secure recovery and help them to make sense of their risk behaviour in the context of their trauma history.
Don't live locally? We can help with up to £2000 for relocation costs, and for those already in the area, we offer a £2000 golden hello that is paid incrementally over a two-year period.
Main duties of the job
- To take on the role of primary nurse, ensuring that the secure recovery model is delivered through the primary nurse standards.
- To lead on the development and review of your primary patients care plans and risk assessments.
- To represent your primary patients in recovery reviews, CPA meetings and tribunal/managers hearings.
- Actively participate in supervision, reflective practice, MDT meetings, staff meetings and community meetings.
- Support the ward service user consultants through the ethos of the "working together group" to ensure authentic service user involvement throughout the ward environment.
- Become involved in quality improvement projects that will improve patient and staff experiences and outcomes.
- Provide nursing leadership by regularly taking charge of the clinical environment and provide supervision for support workers and students.
- Develop the skills to offer specialist forensic nursing assessments and advice to a range of health and criminal justice settings.
