Job summary

The West Sussex Community Team have an exciting new role, inviting applicants from clinicians who are passionate about improving the lives of autistic people in mental health services. This new autism link role will focus on supporting the community teams to provide reasonably adjusted care that meets the needs of autistic individuals accessing West Sussex Assessment and Treatment Services (ATS). The post holder will be based and line managed within an ATS and link closely with the Transforming Care Autism Team (TCAT). TCAT are a specialist multi disciplinary team that provides assessment and consultation to Sussex Partnership clinicians to facilitate discharges and admission avoidance for autistic people. This is a great development opportunity for the post holder to work alongside this highly specialist, innovative team and also access CPD opportunities as part of the wider Neurodevelopmental service. TCAT will support the post holder to develop into the specialist link role through providing supervision, training and shared learning experiences. The role will more broadly enhance the community team approach and improve outcomes with this cohort of people open to community teams. The post holder will be able to benefit from specialist bespoke professional development opportunities.

Within West Sussex the two posts covers the areas of Crawley, Horsham, Mid Sussex, Arun, Adur, Worthing and Chichester Midhurst and Bognor Regis.

Main duties of the job

You will provide co-working, consultation, advise, support and episodical care plan interventions to support clinicians in delivering reasonably adjusted care to support autistic individuals with mental health needs towards their recovery journey. You will be working with adults aged 18 and over with a diagnosed functional mental health disorder and neuro-divergent needs. Duties will include linking with TCAT in order to embed recommendations regarding an individual's autism needs into their mental health care plan.

You will work alongside multi-disciplinary teams across specialist ATS and TCAT to provide care in the community.
