Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic Principal Family and Systemic Psychotherapist to join our East Sussex CAMHS Team based in Hailsham. The Team is multi-disciplinary and includes Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing and Arts Therapists. The Family / Systemic Psychotherapists provide brief and medium/long term interventions, within the broad range of intervention packages.

The current post-holder is retiring and so we are recruiting aPrincipal Family and Systemic Psychotherapist (8b) to work 0.6 wte., based at Highmore, Hailsham, East Sussex.
The role will entail being a core member of the leadership team contributing to service development as well as offering assessments/treatments and holding a complex caseload. The role will work closely with the Clinical and Service Managers for each locality within East Sussex and also more widely with the Consultant Family/Systemic Psychotherapist based at Chalkhill, the Inpatient Unit and the Principal Family / Systemic Psychotherapist based in West Sussex.
Main duties of the job
- To work as a senior member of East Sussex CAMHS providing a high quality, specialist applied systemic family therapy service to clients, their families or carers, where there are highly complex presentations.
- To be responsible for the supervision and governance of a defined group of systemic family therapists in the specified service and to support systemic practice within the team and other agencies through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.
- To support Family/Systemic Trainees, as required.
- To utilise research skills for audit, service development and research within the area served by the team/service
- To work alongside other members of the leadership team to develop and promote best practice within allocated resources and to guide the team around any future developments related to wider CAMHS.
- To contribute to Risk Panels.
- To participate in Serious Incident reports and Complaints procedures.
- To attend Local Leadership Team meetings and Trust wide Psychology and Psychological Therapy Forum meetings.
The post will also include specific duties including developing Reflective Practise in East Sussex and coordinating the Critical Incident rota for the CAMHS Service.
The post is embedded within a strong Family / Systemic Psychotherapy community which offers regular group meetings and CPD opportunities. There is also a local Sussex Association of Family Therapy (SAFT) which offers further workshop opportunities.

- oAn approved post graduate / Masters level qualification (or equivalent) in a recognised psychological therapy, leading to recognised professional accreditation in Systemic Family Therapy (AFT or UKCP)
- oProfessionally registered as a psychological therapist with relevant registration body ie. UKCP.
- oHigh level knowledge of the theory and practice of specified psychological therapy.
- oSignificant assessed experience of working as a qualified psychological therapist.
