Job summary

This is a fantastic time for a B5 nurse or mental health practitioner to join the Basingstoke community CAMHS team.

You will work alongside a group of experienced and highly motivated clinicians to deliver a range of high-quality clinical assessments and interventions for children, young people and families..

Main duties of the job

You will deliver a range of high-quality assessments and interventions for children, young people and families.

You will use your specialist knowledge and skills to undertake initial assessments, manage duty, deliver one to one and groupwork interventions and support neurodevelopmental assessments, as well as mentoring students, and contributing to the overall development of the team and service.

You will support young people across a broad range of pathways and will liaise closely with clinicians from other teams including Single Point of Access, Early Help, Urgent Assessment and Home Treatment (i2i) and Eating Disorders.

About us

The Basingstoke community team is an energetic and supportive multidisciplinary team in Hampshire CAMHS.

Hampshire CAMHS is an innovative service for children and families. We are part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

We have 7 community teams across the county, as well as a number of county-wide teams including a Single Point of Access and Early Help service, the specialist Eating Disorder Service, i2i - our urgent assessment and home treatment team, and Mental Health Support Teams in schools. We continue to enhance and further develop our service thanks to significant recent investment.

There is a strong Nursing structure in the service. Practitioners are supported to grow in their clinical and leadership skills through a comprehensive CPD programme. There are specialist training opportunities in-house to further enhance practice and skills. Supervision is key to supporting practice development and we pride ourselves on the opportunities we offer to staff.

  • Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act (2005) and MHA (1983/2007), to include practical knowledge of FACE documentation, DOLS and Best Interest decisions.
  • Knowledge of Child and Adult safeguarding procedures
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Effective written and verbal skills; excellent interpersonal sills and effective team member
  • Ability to lead projects, chair meetings, supervise junior staff and coordinate training
  • IT literate, able to travel across the designated area in response to patient needs
  • Ability to prioritise/cope with pressure. Ability to assess health needs in an initial assessment and prioritise them in order as soon as assessment is completed. Ability to deal with an unpredictable work pattern and deal with deadlines
